Puerto Vallarta

Puerta Vallarte was conected to Cabo by an overnight ferry that once ran 3 times a week for just a couple of dollars each way but for some reason we never took advantage of it so this was our first visit. Due to a minor stomach upset MJ was limited to a ship board visit dispite the fact that "SamsClub" was visible from our cabin balcony!

PV is situated on Mexican Mainland in Bandares Bay. It became well known because to the filming of "Night of the Iguana" staring Liz Taylor and Richard Burton. The tales of their romance of screen here attracted many well heeld movie peole to buy villas etc and eventually the hoi poloi followed.

The old area of PV is a typical old small town ; a large chrurch surrounded by narrow and often cobble stoned streets. The streets are so narrow that it is barely possible to get far enough from the church to see the facade!

The Interior like most Mecican churches is extravavgantly decorated and well mainatained

The city farthers have followed a policy of supporting public art, the "malecon" or sea front walkway, is dotted with public staues and works of art. The bestt known is that of a boy riding a sea horse in beatifully patinated bronze.

Somehow many of the local people are still able to live normal lives among the throngs of vsisitors

Even this muddy river attracted a father and his "ninos" to take a splash on this Saturday afternnon.

We had made a reservation this evening at the "Steak House" whymsically  called "Cagny's" I presume after the ganster connection with Chicago and its meat trade!
It was an interesting experince although MJ was not able to do justice to the meal due to he "tummy up-set"
